Application of Chrome Corundum

Chrome corundum is widely used in high temperature fields with harsh environment due to its excellent properties, including non-ferrous metallurgy furnaces, glass furnaces, carbon black reaction furnaces, waste incinerators, etc.At the beginning of its development, chrome corundum was more widely used, and was also involved in cement and iron and steel metallurgy. However, due to the strengthening of people's environmental awareness, the call for chromium-free high-temperature industry is getting higher and higher. Many fields have developed alternative products, but there are still chromium corundum in some parts of the service environment is harsh.


Chromium-containing refractories are used well in non-ferrous metallurgy industry furnaces because of their unique properties. Although many scholars are now studying non-chromium-free refractories in the field of non-ferrous metallurgy, so far, the use of chromium-containing refractories in the field of non-ferrous metallurgy as smelting furnace lining is still the mainstream.  For example, the refractory material used in Ausmet copper smelting furnace not only needs to withstand the erosion of melt and gas phase, but also needs to overcome the temperature fluctuation caused by the regular replacement of the spray gun. The service environment is bad. At the present stage, there is no material with better performance to replace except the refractory material containing chromium. In addition, zinc volatile kiln, copper converter, coal gasifier and carbon black reactor are also facing the same situation.


The resistance of aluminum-chromium refractories to glass liquid erosion is better than that of conventional corundum refractories or aluminum-silicon refractories.Therefore, aluminum-chromium refractories are often used as lining materials in key areas such as small regenerator furnace, target wall and molten pool which are seriously eroded.


Aluminum-chromium refractories are also commonly used in carbon black reactor, including combustion section, throat section, reaction section and so on. Aluminum-chromium refractories are used in the ultra high temperature zone of carbon black reactor, chemical erosion zone of reducing gas and ash and frequent temperature fluctuation zone.
