The Characteristics and Application of Binder

The main raw material of refractory is very important and the binder is an indispensable component. In order to make high quality refractory, in addition to the selection of high quality raw materials, binder also plays an important role. Especially when it comes to amorphous refractory binder, it is not too much to say that binder can determine the function of the product.  It is not like shaped refractory products need to be shaped firing, it has a variety of different forming methods. With the rapid development of amorphous refractories and the improvement of application methods, more expectations are placed on binder. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly important. 

The binder has the characteristics of being able to harden at room temperature, small volume change when hardening, strength at high temperature, no impact on people and the environment and low cost.

There are many kinds of classification methods for refractory binding agent, which is only classified from the perspective of hardening effect. Under general circumstances, adhesive bonding and ceramic bonding are taken into account.  But for amorphous refractories, it is more convenient to consider bonding classification only.
